Sri Lanka is without a doubt one of the best safari destinations in Asia with a wide variety of species to be seen. The “Big Five” include Elephant, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Buffalo and whales. We have more than 15 National parks and the small size of the country makes all these very accessible with a drive of not more than 4 hours. The special highlights are the “Gathering” where more than 300 elephants gather during the dry season (June – October) at a park about 2 hours away from our camp. Sri Lanka is certainly a “Leopard Hotspot” with some of the best viewing of leopard during daytime both in Wilpattu National Park and Yala National Park. The best “Dolphin patch” to see these amazing mammals is just off the coast of Wilpattu National park and about a 90 minute drive from our camp. “Whale watching” is also very popular off the Southern and Eastern coasts during the season. With more than 300 species of resident and migrant birds it is a “Birders Paradise”.
